Are we forced to come to earth as souls again and again by a power that is beyond our control? Is earth a prison planet where we reincarnate as souls 100s of times over without really wanting to?

Let me ask you a question — do you want to ascend and unite with the Source after this life, or do you want to go to another planet where you will have a physical body — but not as much negativity as on Earth? There is also an option to stay in “Human Afterlife” — the 5th-dimensional realm of Earth and work there in one of the numerous occupations available for spirits — as a Guide or Librarian or a Healer, Scholar, Artist or Musician — and help, heal and inspire incarnated humans or help incoming souls, or help souls to plan their future lives, or help to expand or preserve the knowledge or records of Earth history, etc. It is a very busy realm and you can stay there as long as you want, you do not have to reincarnate if your soul is not ready or has more to contribute in 5D than in physical lives. Nobody makes you reincarnate against your will. But it will not be your current human ego, but your soul — making this decision. You ego dies with the body or shortly after the death of the body, only your soul goes into Afterlife.
If you want to unite with the Source/God/All That Is/Buddha Mind (whatever you call it) and lose all individuality and boundaries of your soul — spiritual practice and total devotion would be the best way to ensure this direction after death, whatever religion or spiritual practice you have, you can even become a monk or traveling dervish and cut all ties to society and physical pleasures and attachments and seek only becoming One with God or achieving Nirvana. Some people even get enlightened while still in the physical body. (Just do not go into Mahayana Buddhism as they take a vow to reincarnate till all beings are released from suffering, even after the enlightenment).
If you want the next life on another planet — more technologically advanced and pleasant than Earth — you might start reading channelings of Pleiadeans, Arcturians, Sirians and read about different star races online, and get really interested in the topic of extraterrestrial life.
You might also want to develop some skills which might be useful in a future life in an advanced civilization or on a spaceship — from conflict resolution to operating different types of vehicles, being able to be alone for a long time, but also easily adapt to different cultures — so a lot of traveling would be very useful. You can also develop psychic abilities, as a lot of these civilizations are telepathic, and crafts are often operated by the mind. If you are a Volunteer from one of these civilizations and incarnated in this body for a mission — you will automatically go to your home planet after death. Karma in my humble opinion is overrated, doing good deeds and being kind to people raises your vibration, but we do not reincarnate to get punished for some bad deeds, as 3D has negativity, and when you cross over into Afterlife — you are instantly in a positive vibration and unconditional love, nobody is judging you for something you did in physical life. Human life is just a role you play in a drama. We do not judge an actor for playing a villain in a play, but he will get an ovation for acting well.

I am not sure how many times I’ve heard that phrase. Millions of humans have no interest in reincarnating to Earth, and that’s understandable. Life on Earth is a challenging and unique experience, but suffering, heartbreak and pain make it nearly unbearable. However, I must be honest; many souls will return after this lifetime because they will die unconscious. Their soul missed their cue to awaken, their lessons were incomplete, or they never discovered their purpose. So they must return and do it again.
However, some souls in this lifetime will finally end their reincarnation cycle. For some of us, it has been a long, long time. Below, I list signs you will likely not return to Earth after this lifetime.
An Inner Knowing
If you are someone who will not be returning to Earth, you know it. There is a strong inner knowing that this is your final lifetime on Earth.
Spiritual awakening
If you have experienced an awakening, there is a chance you will not reincarnate to Earth. (I will write more on this in my closing remarks).
Spiritual rebirth
If you are undergoing a rebirth, an enormous killing of the egoic self, you will likely not reincarnate. A spiritual renewal ushers in a total transformation (old to new or death to life).

Most souls reincarnating on Earth are enrolled into “Earth School” and only reincarnate here - till they finish all their lessons and “graduate”. But there are also “Volunteers” who came to Earth after incarnating on other planets or worlds (a planet is physical, a “world’ might be non-physical or semi-physical) There was a huge influx of these Volunteer Souls after 1945 after the USA used atomic weapons in Japan, this is strictly forbidden by all Galactic laws - as using atomic weapons can destroy the planet, but also affect many other planets and worlds due to ‘quantum entanglement”.
The ETs can’t just start ruling us, as they have to abide by “non-interference rule” (” Prime Directive” in Star Trek which is based on channeled material), but there is a loophole in it - ETs can incarnate in the bodies on a planet and become a part of humanity, this way they can affect the will of our civilization. So they started incarnating here en masse to shift the vibration of the Earth and humans and create the desire for peace and positive development. Volunteers return to their home planets or worlds after death on Earth, they usually have ‘karma shield” protecting them from attachments and collecting karmic debts, but there is always a risk of getting stuck here.
There are also some “Old Volunteers” who came to Earth long ago to help, but their vibration became so low due to all the negativity here - that they can’t get out of this sphere and are stuck in Earth karma wheel. We also occasionally get “Wanderers” ( aka Mystic Travelers) who do not belong on any planet or world but freely move through the Universe answering calls for help when needed. They can incarnate on Earth on and off and have many other incarnations on different worlds in between, they are not tied up by the Earth’ heavy “spiritual gravity” and only come here on missions once in a while. Wanderers do not affiliate with any Star Race or planet/quadrant/constellation but can participate in different Councils as consultants.
We can definitely reincarnate on other planets. You usually keep incarnating on the same planet though, unless destiny takes you to another one. If an extraterrestrial dies on our planet, he/she may be caught up in our system and have to keep reincarnating here.
This overall energy is called Higher Self, or Oversoul, or Spirit. Only a small part of it is incarnated in each body, and there can be many simultaneous incarnations. It is possible that a part of your Oversoul is already incarnated on other planets or worlds. When you die - you will expand into this higher dimensional energy and lose current human personality, you will still have memories of this life, but your consciousness will expand way beyond it…so it will not be “you” anymore.
The Higher Self decides where it wants to send its energy. You can increase your chances of reincarnating in another world if you have a huge interest in other worlds in this life, you read and watch a lot of sci fi, you will bring this interest with you into your total energy after death. But people who want to go to other worlds after death are often ‘Volunteers” from other worlds anyway, and already have a long history of reincarnating on other planets.
