On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to leave our planet and orbit the Earth. For just 108 minutes, he saw something no one else ever had — the fragile blue curve of our world set against the blackness of space.
He returned with a message that still resonates today: “Looking at the Earth from afar, you realize it is too small for conflict and just big enough for cooperation.”
